Starting with a 2204ish build of mine.
It's got around 480 on the plates of el34's right now.
No experience with bass amps so...
Trolled the web a little & came up with -
Stiffen up the power supply & bring the low end up late in the chain.
I'd really appreciate any input from the gurus here.

Re: 2204ish to Bass Amp
I'm not sure it will end up loud enough, but I guess I would look into different output tubes. Maybe KT88 or 6550.
Re: 2204ish to Bass Amp
Thanks for the advice - I suspect the same thing.
I've got some nice 6550's (thanks to someone here) I'll try.
Keeping that fat bottom end tight needs plenty of power on tap methinks.

+1 on the 6550's!
Any chance you can go 2203 instead? That 100W seems to bring that bass amp just over the edge into useful power. I know it's only 3dB but it makes a difference to me.
If you only record, you will probably be fine at 50w but for stage - I'd make sure I had a good design on a line out and an effects loop too.
I DO like the sound of a 220X amp as a bass amp - it has a nice feel to it as long as you aren't expecting modern bass amp sounds (tight articulate).
More SVT than Eden.
Cool project though.

Re: 2204ish to Bass Amp
Update.
I re-built this thing 3 times.
Ended up with 6550's & they did it - Thanks Guys!
His old favorite head was a tube Bugera 100W 4x6L6...
Couple of tweeks to get it where it sounded good to him. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face. It moves a lot of air, a Lot. The pt gets warm, but not worryingly warm.
Nice to see someone so focused having fun, he forgot to breathe.
Named it Bruiser after his dog who lost a battle with cancer during this build.
Thanks again guys.
