So, I did this today...

So as not to waste it on something foolish, I stopped at Guitar Center on the way home.

Les Paul Special AAA flame single F hole. Push pull tones to split tap.

57 neck, 57 pickups. Pots are pc board mounted with 715p orange drops.

John

Here it is, pretty much finished. 2012 R9 under 8lbs. Sorry for the crappy photo but it captured the color pretty well. I rolled the FB binding and still working on the pickguard gap for the neck pickup.
Throbak custom pickups and bone butyrate rings. Montreux switch ring, toggle nut, pickguard, and knobs. New Gotoh tuners with Uncle Lou buttons and original truss rod cover. Many gigs on it already and getting tons of use. I hate the company but this is the best guitar I've ever owned. :D

Randy I have original parts sets! you have the trades to get the stuff dood! Looks great! Would be better with whites or zebras. I don't think original guards fit though.

:)

Did guy number 2 drive you insane about that mockingbird yet? I didn't mean to cause the kind of email I got... grrr.. nice guy.. heh.

you the devil Myles. I barely dare to take it to gigs as is much less with real parts. Pup's are double whites of coarse but I like the stock look and they do the covers right. Jon is a sick. sick man and is pretty much making new, real PAF's. http://www.throbak.com/
My buddy Mark has a couple original pickguards, I need to measure the cutout for the neck pup to get the gap right.

I fought for 10 years to not play a Paul because jipson pissed me off soo bad(I'm a former dealer). The newer ones have a better top carve, peghead shape, inlays, nylon nut, no truss rod condom, and hyde glue neck joint. It's got an Indian board but I love the way it sounds and plays.

guy #2 is a nice guy but a bit rabid. not sure what I'm gonna do yet, bucket list guitar but it does need to be played.

Yeah man. The new ones are killers. It looks fantastic.

I got snoodled into starting a buy on a pretty special guitar that sat for 6 months and then 10 hours after I said hold it I got an email that someone else put it up seconds before me. Saves me wicked amounts of tap dancing anyhow. It's like one of those Sly movies where he's done with the business but the business isn't done with him.. oh wait. The business called. Done. lol ne'rmind...

Being a fan of Fender's red headed step child - the Tele - I started buying parts last year. Seconds body from Allparts and then derailed myself by buying a reissue of the 74 Tele Deluxe with a grand idea of hot rodding it. No hot, no rod, no movement. So I put it on CL thinking I would lose a few bucks when I am offered a USA tele with a rosewood fingerboard.

Sanded a 1/4" off the allparts body and book matched some curly maple. Here is the body a couple of slurry sands into the finish.
