I've done a little search and I think this can be (may be with a little mod) the final solution to your problem

This is the hack, inelegant but simple and inexpensive.

Works, right? That's all I'm looking for. Sure, retainers made specifically for 6X4s would be great. But the main aim here is - the tube doesn't fall out. I wouldn't worry about it if it wasn't going to upside down. This is my first such amp. So inelegant will work.
