Very nice! Pulling up a chair...

I have a 5E3 build in progress. I had planned to voice it for a Les Paul (e.g. minimize blocking distortion and cathodyne collapse) but haven't built the board yet. This has me intrigued...

Nice TM and were off to good start got my chassis last night should have the cabinet and Rocket
speaker's Monday. I just used parts I had in stock. The ugly CC 100k resistor reads 110k.

That 5B3 is in great condition internally, the exterior is shot, but that can be fixed.

Keep those shots a coming!
Given what's probably laying in your parts drawers Shocked It wouldn't surprise me if it sounded better than the HAD version..
I'd like to see all the observations as I'd like to build a 5E3 one day. The stock amp does have a reputation for being muddy and there are a lot of PI mods out there for these amps.

Looking good Steve, yeah same here except for the PT and speaker. I spent over 2 hours last night just culling vintage resistors and caps that I may not even use for this build. I do need to order me one of those Rocket 50 speakers.

thanks

I will do better than that, you can evaluate it at your leisure and give it the official TAG review.

Has anyone heard one of these by itself, or is this a tool for blending with other amps in a multi-amp rig?

I'd love to hear it A/B'd against a good stock 5E3.

Thanks for sharing the discussion. This place rocks in a good way.

Parts mocked in place. Since my PT is not quite as hot some of the off the shelf models, I'm going to start with 4.7K>10K in the string. I can't put my hands on my 3.3M value , so a 3.05M is there now, I may just leave it .
