I always find it helpful to have pics of good builds up as I work, not just for layout questions, but for build style and execution.
Anally neat builds are not just for show, they produce a good sounding amp,
less prone to breakdown.
The folks on this site are the best, hands down.
Good luck and enjoy!

Great space man. I like the natural light. Only thing missing is your parts bins, beer, and speakers.

Parts bin on the way...!

Beer is always needed .. ;) But not on my picture hehehe!

For now, I'll use my Hughes and Kettner Statesman Dual 6L6 speakers for testing. They are Eminescence RockDriver Cream. (2x12")

Hi!

RJ sent me 1/2W for R13 and R11. Should I install 1W ?

Thanks,

JP,

Looks like you have everything in the right place and it should function as intended.

As you go forward, work on making the minimum number of bends in the component leads while including an eye toward symmetry. It is generally good to have short but smooth lead lengths.... if that makes sense. If not I can elaborate. Also, use the minimum amount of solder that still fully wets and bonds the components to the turrets. These are just good practices to develop that will help you avoid issues ahead. Take your time as you go forward with the thought that neatness equates to time saved later.

Your doing great on your first build, I'll encourage you to keep sharing your progress reports. The folks here are really great and will help you as needed.

Usually we are forced to move to another town AFTER our builds are done!

Good luck and fun with the remainder of your amp! Looking great thus far!

Yeah I agree, my neighbor doesn't like the Express fired up either.
I had my Express combo fired up this week and the feedback of that amp is fun to play with so I naturally play longer, sorry neighbor.

PS board

Post by JPGraphX »

Hi,

Here is my PS Board before soldering.

What do you recommend for my Biais trim pot? In or out my board?

Bias trim pot: My personal preference is the locking 10-turn chassis-mounted pot. Second choice is the Fender-style chassis-mounted pot. I don't like removing the chassis just to adjust bias.

JP,

You may want to modify those (red, blue, yellow) connecting leads on your 9k1 dropping resistors so that they float above the resistor, not actually touch the body of the resistors themselves. As for an onboard or off board trim pot, that's personal preference. If you are going for the closest match to an original Trainwreck, then onboard, but if you think you might be swapping tubes frequently enough that you won't want to pull the chassis out of the cabinet, then maybe a precision trimmer on the back.

+1 on what Zippy said.
Some think it overkill but it's easy to set & it won't move with vibration.
Looks slick too 8)

Hi!

Hey thanks for your tips. I'm going to solder them higher (not in contact with resistor). I want a clone similar to the original, so I will install my trimpot onboard.

I'm not confident on how to wire it though. Layout isnt clear.

Thanks again,
JP
