Funky Capacitor Code?

Post by Meat&Beer »

I have these little brown silver mica caps salvaged from a junked waveform monitor. Thing is, a lot of the caps have this weird code that I can't seem to find a conversion chart for.

5F 511G
1F950F
1F102F
3F471K
etc...

Hoping maybe someone can help me out on this? Thanks for the look-see! :D

meh, pretty simple, just look for a three numerical character code: 511, 950, 471, 102 etc. the other markings are manufacturer hoobily joobily/tolerances n such

511 = 510 pF nominal
471 = 470 pF nominal
131 = 130 pF nominal

silver mica so they are probably LOW capacitance, on the order of picofarads
SAN/SANG = sangamo manufacturer

heres a nifteh link you can punch in yer codez http://www.electronics2000.co.uk/calc/c ... ulator.php

have fun!

And that's what I was leaning towards, but have never seen this numerical alphabetical trickery in this exact such. Thanks man, very much appreciated!

I just finished finally putting all of my resistors away, which stray ones have been collecting in a dish for a couple years now... :oops: (This guy obviously doesn't have the codes fully memorized)

Don't let yer mess clutter and collect, guys! :lol:

You'll find similar 3-number codes on some resistors and pots too.

What to do with those colorful components? I've mentioned before & will again now, those Honeywell ads that used to run 1964-78. Found some for ya, and I'll attach another example besides.

wow, those are cool leo, thanks for the link! i wonder how they sound....

have you seen the resistor/LED rock band picture?

does anybody have the schematic for this?
