Pacosipulami Overdrive Mini

Post by Pacosipulami »

A new child is born! The "Pacosipulami Overdrive Mini" - a single overdriven channel, 6Watt all tube head based on a very famous amp and made out of an old Fender Champ AA764 chassis ;)

The holes for the pots were not perfectly placed - unfortunately, I got no "licence to drill" :(

Audio-clips and details will following soon.....

clips following soon (as I got them, made by spectators at the german axe fest 2014). You can play any note and let it ring for minutes

Now together with the Pacosipulami "Silence Speaker", a compact reactive loadbox....(just a prototype)

into the AxeFx II (used as speaker simulation and reverb fx processor)

here is a clip: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/100 ... odmini.mp3

...imagine the sound of the "Pacosipulami Overdrive Mini" amp on a real speaker cabinet! :D (still - comin' soon)

Very impressive amp tone!! Thanks for sharing it.

Any chance that you could share a schematic, please?

I've posted a DRAFT unproven design. How close is your amp to this?

Any chance that you have some sound clips without the AXE FX II ?

same amount of tubes, different circuit ;) It's basically a high plate "Non-HRM" ODS design with some own ideas regarding filter/tonestack circuit adjustments to my personal taste.

Funny, there is a slight similarity, a post gain filter pot - After the first tests with the design pictured above (featuring a Overdrive, Level and Mastervolume Knob, where you can see a 10pF MV treble cap), I had too much mid/high frequency content, so I ended up with a simple Hi-Cut filter in post gain position instead of the Level control, but after the mastervolume (a 250k audio taper pot with a 2.2nF cap to ground). Also changed the NFB to 22k, going straight to cathode tap of V2b

The AF2 only does the cabinet simulation and reverb in the clip above, since I can't make loud noises in my rental apartment ..... ;)

that's why I build myself a reactive loadbox, so the complex frequency-dependent saturation behavior of the output stage still remains "almost the same" ;)

There are real-cab clips made at the german axe-fest two weeks ago, where I introduced the Overdrive Mini - they comin soon (as I'll receive them...).
