i got a mod idea based on pictures i have. i dont have the mod schematics so i dont know for sure if i got this right.
it looks to me like the cathode resistor(10k) and the grid leak resistor(220k) on v2b are both soldered on the wiper of a trimmer(10k or 25k? idk). im assuming this then runs straight to ground.
if understand correctly, increasing the grid leak will raise the gain/signal/volume level into this stage? and increasing the cathode will cause it to bias colder/ give more distortion?
does that seem correct? is it safe to try it out by hooking up the resistors to the trimmer via alligator clips or am i gonna fry something this way?
unknown mod function, any ideas?

Yes you are correct, and the very small amount of dc voltage going thru the pot to the grid should not make for any real scratchiness when you turn the pot, as higher levels of dc always will.
