I often use 10n ceramic caps across 22/47uF supply caps on second/third stage of an hi-gain amp, plus the PI.
I don't like it on the first stage, because I usually share it with the clean channel. I absolutely don't like it on the screens (sterile like sound).

Re: Filter bypass
Jana, what type of bypass film cap do you use on the first stage PS cap?
I imagine it's not so much the type, polyester, polypro, etc, as the voltage rating, that's important, but how about a polystyrene at say 10,000pF?

How strange I seem to get random email notices of post replies. Got the last one here but nothing before. Maybe it's my imagination. Weird.Jana wrote:RP, not sure how to take your post--are you saying I'm full of shit?
Not at all, Jana, it's wasn't a cynical post. I was just noting that part of the sell of Blackgates was that they were so good they delivered the same performance of bypassed caps. They had their own technology. What I find odd is that no one picked it up after they shut down, so I wonder if it was ever significant.
Next amp I open I will tack a bypass on to see what I hear. I hate A/Bing stuff but it's the only way to learn I guess.
