James/Baxandall tone stack rant.
[rant mode]
The James tone stack was invented by James. Peter Baxandall put the James tone stack in a negative feedback loop to make it an active tone stack. To say "passive Baxandall" is to slight the original inventor James.
E.J. James described the tone stack in February, 1949 in a Wireless World article:
http://home.comcast.net/~stphkeri/James ... ontrol.pdf
Placing the James tone stack in a negative feedback circuit was described by Peter Baxandall in an October 1952 article in Wireless World:
http://home.comcast.net/~stphkeri/Negat ... ckTone.pdf
To further add insult to injury, if you search Google for E. J. James, it will autocorrect E. J. James to E. L. James, author of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Can we not show E. J. James some respect? He invented a cool tone stack dammit.
[rant mode off]
BTW, how cool was Wireless World.

The E.L. James tone stack is to adjust the gray noise.

You guys need to get your facts straight. Randall Smith invented the James and Baxandall stacks, the Schmidt inverter, and edited Wireless World.

A brilliant man, Mr. Randall Smith. So great was his intellect, that some of his patented circuitry designs were widely in use before the man was even born -- thus transcending the limits of time and space.....Colossal wrote:You guys need to get your facts straight. While we're getting our facts straight ...... it was Peter Green that wrote Black Magic Woman, and NOT Carlos Santana.
edited to insert missing apostrophe ..... because, it matters

Here's a good one!
Jeff Beck originally wrote Superstition, but gave it to Stevie (That should keep you up at night)...In return Beck got Lovers...Randall Smith should just go ahead and patent Dirt and Rocks..

Um, and Al Gore invented the internet?
(Disclaimer, I know that's not the exact quote, and it's taken out of context...I'm just shooting for mildy funny; no political statement intended)
