No problems here Andy. I did not mean it to sound like I was "slamming" you. Again, I like you, and think you make great amps. The end.
I guess the big thing here is acknowledging where the designs and influence comes from.

Two facts come to mind.Some Dumbles do sound spectacular and some don't.But the same goes for Fuchs amps. I don't go around saying things like "if Fuchs make an amp everyone bows down,even if it blows".
That kind of remark needs to be controlled even if it's totally true.Especially by an amp builder.It's just bad taste.A lot like saying Ceriatone's amps are inferior.Just not true.They are just cheaper to buy.World markets make North American builders scramble to do stuff that competes price-wise.
To all builder's out there: " build good sounding amps and leave the comments to the people who buy and play them".
This Dumble stuff is getting to be too much.

You would have made a good point in your post until you included the above statement, right.
If we break down the different category's of opinions and where they come from..The three most popular being
Players approach..For those with a good set of ears and have a good understanding of the so called Dumble tone..But have no technical knowledge of electric circuits..
The Player/Tweaker s..Those who have a good set of ears and have some technological knowledge of electric circuits
And Amp manufactures or those with a good set of ears who have actually built many from the chassis up..
I notice that in talking with and going through some of those changes myself that the opinions very greatly between each group however those within the same group seem to carry basically the same opinions..There are of coarse certain exceptions..However in general this is what I notice...
Anyone else notice this or am I out to lunch?

Hey...not to change the subject, but does anybody have a clue on the PI tail resistor in that last photo of the Odyssey posted by UHOP? I've got most of it and can guess most of what I can't see...but it'd save me a lot of time fooling around on that tail resistor. The standard Fender 22k (or standard Dumble 24k) seems kinda drastic on the load line, assuming that first tube is a 12AU7.
Also curious about what kind of 6L6s are in there...

Great, great amps the Dumblelands. But you all will remember "Texas Flood" of course, that has been recorded with Jackson Browne's Dumbleland Special:
More or less similar tone stacks as in the OD generation from the same time. Seven step filters, with inductor of course, and all the usual Dumbleland stuff. Transformers probably from out of a bass amp on the Woodstock main stage.
For the "original" sound I can recommend one or two of the Dumble 2x12" "folded horn" cabinets with two 12" JBL or Altec speakers (sorry, no picture at hand right now). Awesome! Fasten your third teeth!
