Insulated turrets
New Amp maker
Re: Insulated turrets
I have used single insulated turrets in the past, when they need to be attached individually to the chassis. But insulated turrets on the circuit board? Why bother? The board itself is the insulator.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
Re: Insulated turrets
I only use them when I want to insulate from the chassis.
Re: Insulated turrets
I lay down a sheet of fish paper on the chassis with rubber cement if I can't use standoffs to isolate the board.
Tube junkie that aspires to become a tri-state bidirectional buss driver.
Re: Insulated turrets
Whoever built that ceriatone board didn't set the turrets well, not a fault of the turrets, just check out all the 50+ year old road worn amps with them. Maybe they forgot to whack 'em in place?
Re: Insulated turrets
Yeah...I am sure it is just me...but I do not understand what the OP is asking...xtian wrote:I have used single insulated turrets in the past, when they need to be attached individually to the chassis. But insulated turrets on the circuit board? Why bother? The board itself is the insulator.

Re: Insulated turrets
I think he may mean an insulator on the turret to the board - like an insulator on an input jack.
Re: Insulated turrets
Sorry...still do not understand. A turret on a board has no contact with any other part of the board or chassis, unless you wire something to it.Tubetastic wrote:I think he may mean an insulator on the turret to the board - like an insulator on an input jack.
I guess my question is...what is the turret connected to, on the board, that you would be insulating it from.?
Thank You

I was thinking he was thinking this, but only he knows for sure:

Re: Insulated turrets
It doesn't need to be insulated - the board is non-conductive.C Moore wrote:Sorry...still do not understand. My assumption is from his "loose" turrets mention and burned board comment.
