Sorry

Tweed Pro 5E5-a, duh the super has 6v6's

filters changed to 47,47,22,8uF
6L6 grids 2K7 instead of 1K5, and 470R added to screens
The two preamp channels are what you posted earlier switched at the outputs with a relay.

that's all I got, hope it helps

So other than using 12AX7 instead of 12AY7 for V1 & V2, they are the same? Why is this hard to work on in Italy or anywhere else?

Dr.Z available in Italy are fiew and the amp techs with racovery service are only in one city in Italy: this one is the only seller.
Thank a lot randal, you helped me so much! So, can I use the Pro Amp or bassman PT, Choke and OT when Dr.Z galaxie trafo will fail?

Reported transformers are from Triad company and is to the original spec found in classic tweed amps like the Super, Pro, and low powered Twin.

Dr.Z relay

Post by dariez75 »

I've found an oldest ampgarage thread (https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=21639) with a talk about Galaxie MV mod. The way to do is ad a second relay switch. I've foud the pictures and the way to make this but I'm not able to read the kind relay used.
Is this the famous MV" mod?
Could be a VAC powered relay?
In the pictures I've found almost all wiring but not the footswitch and relay power supply...
please help

I modded my 5e4a to galaxy specs over the weekend (no relay two distinct channels). The normal channel is very nice, but the gain channel is pure rock and roll. In fact I think it my be a little over the top. Another thing is the huge level change from ch1 to ch2.

If one wanted to reel the gain side in a little which of the following changes would you make:

Increase the value of the cathode resistor on the gain channel from 820 to 1k or 1.5k.
Change the bright cap from 6800pf to ?????.
Throw some signal to ground .

Thanks guys for help, I've try to read some topics on Z talk forum but is not a technical forum, I didn't found issue about relay, parts and diyers layouts or shematics.
Jon, congratulations for your job (as you explained) I'm eager to hear or view some audio or video clips about it. If I understand, you did the amp without relay but only using a spdt switch? Your advice is to modify the bias on second triode in order to change the gain stage and reshape it more clean? Whitout relay I just footswitch change from v1 and v2 and v2 boost is via manual spdt? Could you post some pictures? thanks!
Cheer and Triple Rock!

15 day ago I'had install in glaxie a PPIMV without removing pesence control and using a second cabinet 8 ohm output hole. After 2 days of use I removed the PPIMV mod because it seems to me output tubes running too hot!!! For this reason I've decided to search the original mod...
