Trem Question

Post by C Moore »

Can one of you guys explain the AA764 Trem circuit to me.?
It looks like the foot switch grounds the top of that 1M resistor...but what does that do exactly.?
I actually do not really understand how any of that circuit works...other than pulling the output from the Cathode of the Oscillator Tube and inserting into the Cat of the second gain stage.
So anyway...what is the foot switch doing.?
Thank You

That switch grounds out the oscillating signal that is flowing thru the 3-cap array. There are several areas of trems for a switch to be employed. Some turn it off (default = on) and some do the opposite.
If it says "Vintage" on it, -it isn't.

besides the princeton it's the only bf/sf trem that will work without footswitch... and the VC-trem is the best of all imo ;)

OK...that makes sense.

Is it "normal" for the Intensity Pot to effect the Gain/Volume of the amp when the Tremolo is not operating.?
Thanks

OK...so even with no oscillation...the Ints Pot will siphon some of the signal to ground (from the Cat of gain stage #2) and that reduces the volume of the amp...is that kind of what is going on.?
Thank You

Looks to me like the effect will be to shift the bias point if that stage, which will affect the output volume.

Hey Martin....yeah, that is a better explanation of what was in my head.
Thanks
