Unused bias tap for relay switching

Post by mhartman »

Have any of you ever used an unused bias tap for relays? I have an extra 60VAC tap. I'm wondering if any of you have found a reasonable way to use it for 12v or 5v relays. I'd rather use the tap than add a separate transformer

You could if you can manage to limit the DC input to a 780x regulator at around 38-39 Volts or so.

Thanks TM. That's what I was thinking. Maybe resistor-diode-resistor/cap-regulator to bring it down. Or, maybe two regulators in series (larger regulator then the 780x). I haven't fiddled to much with regulators other than the standard applications.
