I have my eye on a later just FUGLY Twin RI that works but need s a recover and grill done. I can do it but it's not a lot of fun...
I wanted to do a 100 watt ODS of some kind like you guys keep telling me.
Is it worth it, I mean are the components roughly equivalent to the MC iron ?
Otherwise I'm leaning toward the MC twin iron and a CE chassis and a matching board kit.
I will have to build my own cab AGAIN ! It will just be a head though.
Maybe there isn't enough value in what the RI brings to the table ?
Remember it ain't purdy, - got's spray paint on it an them stickers that leave the cat hair magnets on em.
I would appreciate input before I challenge the rush hour traffic.
Wheee !
Is a working pcb Twin Reverb worth $400 in parts value ?

I say no way;if you have you spend time cleaning it up and gutting it just so can build something in it, did it really only cost $400?chopstuck wrote:I have my eye on a later just FUGLY Twin RI that works but need s a recover and grill done. I can do it but it's not a lot of fun...

I think it is easily worth $350 for the parts, and if your plan is to turn it into something nice, it's probably a good platform for that. Those speakers are pretty good, and the cabinet is fine, and the iron should be pretty good too. Plus it comes with glass. Can't see how it isn't worth the money.
On the other hand, I don't like Twins
So I would be looking to gut it and make a better sounding amp from the major parts.
But that's just me.

Chops, where's your sense of adventure? Spill the wine, grab that (fugly) girl & transform her into sumpin' beautiful. Between the iron, chassis, box & speakers you got a good start. Or . . . staple some chicken wire on the front and you're "winning ugly." All ready to play both kinds of music, country AND western.
Now that $100 yard sale "Evil Twin" I got a couple years back, chainsawed from its speaker cab, with a bad PT, THAT I gutted, barely worth its OT & a few more shabby parts. Perhaps I'll flog the chassis here someday. Cheap, very cheap.
Dig your new avatar, I've seen that robot somewhere...

The twin is gone,
The twin is gone away.
The twin is gone baby,
The twin is gone away.
You know that twin would'a done me wrong baby,
And I would be so sorry 'rounda bout Saturday.

Ad has been pulled. Just after I suddenly have a new found desire for a twin. Iron, cab and speakers at $350 might not be so bad.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.
