Okay, I will admit that Seattle can be trendy and hipster. But ultimately I base my interest on sound and song writing. I really like this band.

My wife does a lot to promote local bands, and this is one of her favorites. We've been invited to the album release party tomorrow.

That doesn't really mean shit to me. I've been to the album release party of a lot of "We suck so bad only momma will buy one, and we'll give it to her for free."

But I find this band's writing and haunting sound compelling, and a lot of musicians in Seattle apparently agree, and are attending the release party.

Not exactly guitar oriented, but at the end of the day we all want to make some noise that affects peoples emotions. The fact the drummer is playing keyboards/bass while drumming is pretty cool.

I find it weird that of all things to be making a comeback it's surf music. Had quite a few bands coming in from Seattle of that genre. We just had Tacocat and La Luz come and play at our venue, and it seems the surf style drums and wet guitar are slowly creeping into just about everything.

Just got back from the show. They were better than I expected. I hate Neumos in Seattle as a venue. Concrete floors and walls. When a band with distortion or busy drums plays, it turns to mush. But the sparse sound of the band sounded good in the place.

That Twin Reverb sounded awesome.

Very honest sound. No fx on voice or drums. Strange that a two piece can sound so full, but the drummer plays drums and keys at the same time.

The bottom end on that twin is amazing.

So, the little Ampeg in back of the drummer (from the TV tapings) must be a monitor for the drummer's keys. An interesting mix of surf, acid and almost like a rockabilly feel. Not my cup of tea, but very well executed, and above all, honest music....I can sure appreciate that. That drummer is pretty good considering the drums, keys, AND his vocals contributions.

Considering how "geeky" they look they should incorporate pocket protectors and slide rules into the act.
