Marshall Lead 12 power switch.

Post by galtjunk »

I built an 8 watt el84 amp into a Marshall Lead 12 stack.
I has a great AC/DC tone when it is cranked into the 2 1x10 cabinets.
I need to replace the ac switch in the front panel.
I ordered a Marshall replacement lighted rocker switch but it is too big for the hole in the panel.
The faceplate is kind of brittle so I really don't want to take a file or a Dremel to it.
I checked the local electronics supply houses and the don't have anything that even comes close.
Does anyone know where I can order a replacement?

Get a lighted toggle switch from your local shack, then get some .040" plastic from a hobby shop, or some sheel alumnium that some hobby shops and hardware stores carry and make up two spacers, one to go inside the amp and one to go on the outside of the control panel, the mounting the switch will keep itself in place.
Just make sure the toggle switch you get has a long enough shank to pass thru both spacers and the amps chassis.

Or, you can check with Mojotone, Watts Audio, or Triode Electronics. They all carry the Marshall lighted switch.
What?

Stevem,

I would really rather get a switch that fits but I'll try your solution if I can't find the correct one.

Jana,

I think they only sell the larger version of the switch. I tried one from Cedist.com and it doesn't fit the Lead 12.

Does the switch look like this (sorry, not the best pic)?

I bought this online a couple of years ago when I converted this Lead12 to an 18watt.

I can't remember where I got it, but it was probably Mojo, AES, or PartsIsParts.

If you still can't find one, post back and I'll see if I can dig up a receipt.

Ken

I think the original switch has 6 poles.
I'll have to pull it out and check it.

Thanks
