Triangle Cabs

Post by DFMoore »

My latest project. I was consigned to build two triangle cabs to house a bass amp with a 15 inch driver and a guitar amp with a 12 inch driver. What do you think?

Wow--that's beautiful living room furniture. Also really discourages people from setting drinks on your amps.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

They look great!

I'm thinking your client must be a Jack LaLanne type fitness nut? Lots of deep knee bends to adjust controls. I'm too old and out of shape for that. I'd be in traction after one gig.

Yes they are equilateral triangles and I did have to build a sled to cut the miters. I thought the same, access to the amps are a little low. He found out the same during his first gig with them. He is now thinking about bases for them.....maybe a trapezoid. It was a fun build after it was said and done I cleared maybe $.01 an hour. Glad it's more of a hobby than a real job.

Maybe pole mount them on Ultimate-type speaker stands used for PA speakers? That would get them up to about chest/ear level, easy to access controls, and project the sound to both stage and audience.

Very nice looking.

I would convert both cabinets to light show (no speakers) and toss speaker cabs under both.

They remind me of 3rd Power amp cabs, as Used by Lenny Kravitz.
The non-parallel walls should make for a very good sound.

The customer says they sound better than their old cabinets. Was happy about that.
