Long short of it, is that RJ already has done the homework and has his own line cards - this guy is just trying to cut him, and others, off at the knees. There no value added by going to the company, when RJ is buying in quantity and offering great prices on transformers made to the correct specs.
TAG is a community of sharing, caring people and he is just another coming to gather information for his commercial interests - he's already proven that he has no inclination to share. Bottom line: He's a diode - info only goes one way.

I'll have to remember that one!
Yer I see what you mean it is a bit pants that RJ has done a lot of work to get where he is to only then be cut off by someone else. Big difference is RJ will be happy to share info with you. He was extremely helpful to me when it came to planning my build.

Glad he enjoyed my rhetoric! I know that ROTFLMAO means rolling over the floor laughing my arse off. As far as the CCOMN - that's new to me! As far as our KF part number goes, it's still tightly hand-wound using high grade AMERICAN wire, cores, and nomex (which is harder for us to get these days). The best part is, it's still wound by our same winding staff who've been with us since... I was a baby!
This is basically the Sozo business model...no specs or technical information to back up our hype, but take our word for it...our stuff is the best. Oh, and we did business with KF a LONG time ago. I am guessing that blowing the dust off some old papers doesn't tell the whole story...

When you buy a car, you trust that it moves, right?
We've got enough proof of which of our part numbers go with which Wrecks.
If it didn't work for you, or you just plain don't like it; send it back. It's that simple. Not sure if that's the same 'business model' as Sozo. But half the joy of the amp hobby is experimentation...can we all agree? lol When I first started learning and tinkering with amp modifications I took a risk buying Sozo caps for my Townshend Hiwatt not knowing if it was going to be better than the stock caps. Sozo caps are phoking expensive. Keep in mind that the CP-103 was my dream amplifier. The Who Live at Leeds is responsible for my even starting guitar at age 12. It wasn't until I was 24 that I was able to afford one that was broken. (Bad OT). The Sozo caps were a metric-shit-ton better than the caps Hiwatt started putting in their late models. The OT we make for 100 watt Hiwatts are almost as tonally transparent as the Wreck parts. When you have a tonally transparent OT, your circuit and component quality really stands out.
Another point being, I don't know any of you. You all are not affiliated with Pacific Transformer. I can't give out technical information about the product. It is intellectual property of Pacific Transformer. This thread spawned from a heated argument over a comparison of our parts vs mercury. My old man has a story of talking to KF and asked why he hadn't gone with mercury beings it's what they do mostly, KF laughed. Anyway, I'm rambling again.
I have no iron in this fire, but I think there's a need to lighten up a bit.
rj has vouched for this guy--there's few better creds than that.
Why should he divulge business secrets to us?
Apparently, he has the product, bottom line.
Yer plus I don't think hes intentionally trying to undercut (is that the right word?) RJ. Plus RJ said himself that the guy can't sell us transformers cheaper than him.
No fight here either just trying to figure out some things about ordering from Pacific. The TW stuff I get from rjguitars or Allyn Meyers so no problem there.
But if I want a replacement transformer I need to know what Pacific is using for primary and secondary. In my opinion Mercury over winds every transformer so specs are all over the place and then charges way too much.
Having a web site order page that has the wiring schematic with values is the only way I'm going to buy from a company. I'm not going to play games trying figure out what a company is selling. Too many transformer companys seem audio engineer orientated requiring purchaser to provide specs rather then triple their sales by selling to guys like us that build our own amps and just need a simple online ordering page like Magnetic Components does and why they sell lots of musical instrument and stereo/mono amp transformers.

An web site order page with wire schematic IS in construction. We do want to make sure you get the right part and have all the wires/impedences match up. The documents we have for the original KF specs isn't public friendly with too much Pacific IP information. We have to redesign separate files. K&M/AM/RJ parts mostly come from us already, but are specialized to their specs. Our parts are confirmed for amps made by Ken Fischer. They should work for all clones as well depending on how close to the original they are, but those clones obviously aren't made by Ken. RJ was the first person to contact me after we semi went public. He informed me what he does, and he is a great supplier of Pacific parts. Trainwreck is honestly only going to be a small part of this operation. We are working on Marshall parts, Hiwatt parts, Fender parts (new and old), etc and so forth. I personally wasn't aware of distributors selling Pacific parts until I came on this forum. The Pacific engineering and sales staff leading up to myself wanted someone who knew amps to come in and take over audio parts. None of them play, or build amps. Neither did Randy Neverka, who was our senior engineer (and part owner) up to his surprise passing in 2007.
I've talked to ALL of our amp company customers (whom ALL I'm not at liberty to disclose for a reason) who we mass produce for, and they all swear by our product so much, they don't want their customers knowing where they get our parts from. I will say we produce for Bob Carver amps. One his original specialty Hi-fi amplifier lines MSRP at $18-25 grand a piece. But our guitar amp clientele are very secretive. They all take our parts out of the box, slap their own sticker with their own part number on them, and even sell them as replacements for $500 a piece. One of them even takes our shipping boxes out back and incinerates them so there's no record. It wasn't until I started dropping our parts in my own amps that I could really grasp what they were talking about. I have no need to bullshit anyone here. Our repeat clientele speak for us.
The only people I'm looking to undercut here are Mercury.

Power Tranny: 11410
Output Tranny: 11415
They were used and are the originals. These are the direct OEM replacement for your Express, Liverpool, and Rocket Wrecks, these are the two we're selling.
Can you quote general specs for these transformers? By that I mean voltages and current ratings for the PT, and impedances for the OT?
So I'm hearing the answer to the above question is no. This, along with the price, is why I don't buy Mercury transformers, and I won't be likely to buy off-the-shelf transformers from any vendor who doesn't provide the basic data to design a circuit around.

Hell, Martin, they don't even give f'ing dimensions / mounting info, basic mechanical stuff. I emailed sozo twice trying to get dimensions on the big blues, all I wanted was the length and no reply. F*ck the lot of these people making electronics and providing no specs. This isn't a secret herbal tea to protect. I don't want to know what goes in it I want to know what it does. If you make electrical parts and you don't provide specs you should get sanctioned or shut down by someone. There ought to be a law, I tell yah!
rp wrote:Hell, Martin, they don't even give f'ing dimensions / mounting info, basic mechanical stuff.
RP, this isn't quite true. All you need do is email them and they will email you the data sheet for a respective part. This is usually a PDF or .xls file with primary and secondary information and sometimes unloaded voltages. You can get most of their PT and OTs in the upright, horizontal/upright, and z-axis mounting orientations, so which one you choose will dictate mounting center dimensions.

I concur, every time that I have asked for the specs of a particular choke, PT or OT they have given it to me. My biggest complaint with them is the pricing structure and they are not keen on 1 piece order one offs.
So why don't they post it all on their web site (like Mag Components does) and save themselves the trouble of answering e-mails? Don't they have something better to do?
