Cheap signal tester

Post by M Fowler »

For those that don't have or want to use an oscilloscope for some signal testing here is an easy one.

Container used to have some mini M&M's in it until I ate them

12ga romex house wire. I save the bare wire from son's garage wire job I did recently because I knew I would be using it.

Cheap signal generator kit from Velleman MK105 $6.89 from Electronic Inventory Online. www.eio.com

Solder it together last night and tested this morning works very well with the above signal tester through a cheap small SS amp on my work bench.

For those that don't have an oscilloscope or want a cheap easy way to test generated signals through a circuit.

I was going to add a 4 selector rotary switch and on/off power switch with pilot light but decided not to.

I wonder how their $70 o-scope would work for basic guitar amp chores:

I am too stupid to put that kit together so I didn't buy it.

I have a scope but like simple testing equipment and thought people that really don't need to set up a full tech bench to build effect pedals or amps could benefit from DIY Testers. :)
