A Custom Chassis Source

Post by ISOTone »

looks cool - kind of buckish though. split x and split y for high gain designs might be worth investigation. they can anodize in just about any color. order extra front or back panels for layout tweaking.

split y chassis 10" (split into 2 x 5") x 24 long x 2.25" high is 155.00 unfinished.

I got really excited until I saw the price - wow!

has anyone ever tried par-metal.com? I have built a few rack devices from them in the past - they have one model with a divider in the middle which can be perfect for mounting tubes and transformers inside of the enclosure. Prices are in the $40-75 range depending

I really like the blank chassis from these guys, they're pretty thick tho.

Try http://www.db-precisionproducts.com/

They have been the most reasonable I have found for custom chassis. You have to order several to get a price break but the service is great and you can get internal PEM nuts and powder coat.

I've had a batch of chassis made by Hamilton Metalcraft, and I'm pretty happy with them: http://www.hmetal.com/
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

I just sent Hamilton an email - thanks for the tip! Hoping they can do a run of 12-25 12ga aluminum Princeton type chassis for me

Anyone try this guy in Canada? He says he will do custom sizes.

Yes he does both custom rectangle chassis and fender slant style chassis for me. I've get Princeton, Bassman, Tremolux, champ, and others from him.

Some people don't like that he bolts the corners but I don't mind and if and when I do I'll rivet it together.

yes - his chassis are great if you do not mind drilling.

I have 2 on order and I completed an amp using one just this week. Very good for the money

yes, decent products. no complaints with the 10 series cases. the 12 series cases are a PITA because of the inner front panel.

have read both horror stories and praise on the "custom" sizes. if you stick with off the shelf lines and sizes you might be saving yourself some heartache.

there is a line for tabletop audio, that i've not tried but read good things about. it's the 20 series lineup. my thoughts are that the 3x16x12 possibly has potential.
