Ray Price passed on.

Post by M Fowler »

Austin City Limits pays tribute to the late great Ray Price who passed away on December 16, 2013, at the age of 87. We remember Ray in this classic 1981 episode of Austin City Limits.

Man, that's it.
Total class, great singing, great songwriting, tremendous musicianship.
People think that's an easy style to play, but it's not. Two/four swing is tricky to get and keep the feel, and this is how it's done.
That band swings! Kenny Sears, Buddy Emmons-good as it gets.
Ray gave Willie Nelson his start, writing songs.
Saw the Last of the Breed tour with Willie and Merle, and Ray absolutely stopped the show with Night Life--it took fifteen minutes for the house to sit down so they could start playing again.
Great, great performer-loved his weed, and sang his ass off right up to the end.
Bless you Mr Price-rest in peace.
