OT/tube questions
I've been running JJ 6V6 for the last day or 2 in a amp with a OT spec'd for el34. 3.6k primary. Plates have 445vdc on them. I've read over and over the JJ 6v6 can take that no problem. It's also said they can be biased hotter than other 6v6. The questions are, considering the plate V, where would you bias them for reliability without sacrificing tone. And would it be better to run a OT spec'd for 6v6 than using my current OT with a 8 ohm speaker with the 4 ohm tap? Or is this going to give me very similar results in all respects? Thanks.
Re: OT/tube questions
I'm not familiar with the jj's because I have quite a few old 6v6
Should be fine running 8ohm speaker into 4 ohm tap
I'd bias them like a 14 watt tube so 10watts max
The old 6v6gta's can handle higher voltages also
