ATTENUATOR, help identify specs!

Post by rule »

Hi,

I'm about to buy an attenuator, i have two choices. but i'm pretty bad in identifying the materials/specs.
Could you help me? And maybe give your personal opinion about wich one is better?
I have a 50w Marshall Super Lead from '71 and an Orange PPC212 (16ohm)

You can check out the pictures here...

TT PoS 100w : https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/produ ... s-100.html

Reyes Audio LLC : http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/29101257334 ... 1423.l2649

Thanks.

Good morning and welcome.

The first one says KIT, which means some assembly is required. The supplier has a huge forum in German language and I am sure someone there could inform you in English. They like to chatter.

The second one is made to order in the USA. Spec seems clear.

All I can say really. No experience on attenuators
I'm going now , tony

Thanks Structo!

@Overtone : i did ask them but i've had no reply yet.
I'm just curious about which material (resistors, etc.) each one is using and what's considered to be the best in the opinion of the people that answer my cry for help

I would not worry over the difference in the "quality" of the components here.
The standard of the assembly will make more difference.

Here is a link to more information on the kit:

Attenuating a Marshall, it seems to me like bullfighting with a codpiece or something fishy.
Anyway, I am sure it is very naughty.
