Oh thanks but i take no credit for any woodworking or covering. I put that down a while back. This cab came from Mojo. It's the only one I've got from them(that I know of) but it seems very well constructed. I love how that 15" looks in there. Quite menacing.

So I wanted to say thanks a bunch to everyone that helped me here with this fiddle amp. This was pretty much my introduction to understanding frequency responses.
I ended up with a 5F6A with a severely modified tone stack, scratchy presence and a cut control, through a 15" Black Widow, Mojo cab. The owner is over the moon about it,

Yeahhhh BUDDY! And yes it does look formidable, with that aluminum dome shining thru the narrow-panel grille. So, is this going on tour with the Hendricks Gin band?

As a former violin player I am interested in what makes a certain amp friendly amp towards a violin.

For me it was always about the pickup.
Be it piezo pickup or microphonic pickup.

Never found one that worked for me although I was primarily an acoustic player in orchestra.

Well, it's for the same fiddle player as the Hendrick's group, but different band. This amp is for 70's roadhouse/honky tonk LOUD stuff. I run a vibrolux and a 6v6 express in that group at this point
..That reminds me I keep trying to get some of y'all out to these Hendrick's parties. I'll post the invite in garage talk. Party is in Brooklyn this Tues/Wed

Well the only difference nowadays is that you can get more for a "violin" on CL.

But seriously, Structo, his major complaint was that certain strings would "pop out" and be louder than the others, and that his lower strings were really boomy. He plays really hard, all hoedownish, so he got a lot of scratchy bow noise too. Of course this amp may only be friendly to this player. Now he is reporting fullness, presence, balance, warmth without being too bright or boomy. Hell, everything guitars players look for
Ill post the tone stack when I get it back from him.

Strings can make a huge difference in volume balance between them.

But if he is indeed a fiddler, the stomping of his foot may actually help his sound.
