Maybe it's where the flux capacitor hooks up. Anyway, I'm continuing with the build.
Relax. It's SUPPOSED to smoke a little.

Holes by the preamp leads me to believe they may have been for mini switches, maybe local feedback, or other preamp mods.

I don't know you were fiddling around with PPIMV and Presence and Turbo knob? :)

I looked at my old emails to see what I ordered back when I was amassing parts. Nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe it will come to me eventually.

Inventory the parts that fit in holes that size. Maybe then you will know.

Thought I'd post a photo. I'm sure it's not useful, but maybe people wanted to know what I was talking about. The holes are on the right.

Did you ever contemplate putting switches on the cathode bypass caps or otherwise altering the V1/V2 bias?

I think I know what it was! I think I wanted switches to bridge the bright and normal inputs. Someone told me it was possible to get a different sound by using some kind of patch cord on the input side, and I probably decided to rig the amp so it could be done with switches.

As of this moment, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

What's the power resistor on the outside?

Does it have high voltage on it?
