No, but the grey cord from late-50s Electrolux canisters has the best tone. That Hoover stuff is junk.

A lot of the stuff KF says seems to be some sort of placebo effect, and plenty of people seem to believe it, and swear by it. Like differences in the sound of different types of wire, for example.

But KF is almost a religious figure among many amp fans, so I generally keep quiet.

I'm not offended. I actually agree with a lot of Ken Fisher's ideas and have found them to be true in practice. It's the guy that wrote the article (Dean Farley) that I have a hard time believing. Anything I've heard straight from the horses mouth is good info. Anything I've heard second hand makes me think KF was a joker who liked to pull peoples legs when they came around with annoying questions.

I have some questions about this. I have 2 sets of blues:

-Vox label, H1777 cones, brighter, harsher, more scooped, broken in
-Celestion label, no H1777 stamp, no stamps at all except for a Sf7507, sounds bigger, fuller, more full mids.


Now I know the china vs UK stuff. But the Vox label should be china and should not have H1777 cones. The celestion should be UK and should have H1777 cones. These speakers also have different bell indentations.

My speakers are opposite and its driving me crazy! I am selling an amp with blues so whatever blues are UK will be the ones I keep.

I have a pair of Blues I purchased around 2000 new from Music123. They have the narrow protruding ring around the label, the same as your Vox labelled Blues, however the label on mine are the same as the one on your Celestion labelled Blue. The thing that is strange about my Blues is that the cones were originally stamped 53H 1777, however the stamping was then covered over with what appears to be a black Sharpie marker. On top of that is stamped 7507. I posted this years ago on other forums and I was told that 7507 is the part number for the cone and is normally stamped under the surround where it can't be seen in a finished speaker. Why 53H 1777 was scratched out and restamped 7507, we may never know!

There's lots of voodoo in the audiophool world. There are many claims and beliefs unsupported by blind A/B testing.

Then again some differences are outstandingly obvious.

Even if valid, many of the uber high priced silliness you see is far off the chart of diminishing returns.
That said, I guess I'm guilty, as I like DH Labs teflon/ silver plated OFC speaker cable. It made a drastic improvement in my system, and I use it for all my amps.
It's a couple bucks a foot, so hardly falls into the "long grain copper crystal massaged by virgins under the light of the full moon and wrapped in ion neutral C37 blue silk category.

But 10 years ago i would have laughed my ass off at the thought, while I soldered zip cord to speakers.

And 20 years ago I did laugh when I heard coupling caps had a preferred polarity.

Some silly concepts ,after experimenting, don't seem so silly anymore.
