That was really musical! Begs to be sampled and made into a song.

I can't even do that with my semi auto. I'm fixing to get a .44 for myself for Christmas and I've been thinking Ruger Blackhawk but that sorta looks like fun. Maybe I'll get a Redhawk instead.

Have any of you guys shot a .44 magnum?
A friend of mine had several and he was infamous for sneaking in a couple over spec hand loads to surprise you.
Bang Bang BOOM!
They have been known to break wrists due to the recoil.
But I'll bet that guy has strong wrists.

That's what I was thinking. Vicious recoil on those things. Reminds me of the first time I fired a double-barrel 10-gauge. My Father was behind me and caught me.

Miculek is legendary, but those are nowhere near full loads, as recoil recovery times would make fast strings impossible.Structo wrote:They have been known to break wrists due to the recoil.

Re: .44 Magnum 6 shots in a Second.
He says he's shooting 180g loads for the .44 mag.
I s'pose that's more in the realm of .44 Special.

Re: .44 Magnum 6 shots in a Second.
Yes he is. Correct, 180 grain bullet @ 1500 fps would be a low-mid target load for a 44 Mag. The 180 grain jacketed bullet is about the lightest that you can find in .429. My load docs have 180 grain Sierra JHP over 11.8 grs of Win 231, 1455 fps. This load is not at all unpleasant in an LAR Grizzly.gktamps wrote:

The 240 grain 44 Mag load @ 1500fps would be a different story and 31 grains of powder under a 180 grain bullet would look like a flamethrower at night.

Re: .44 Magnum 6 shots in a Second.
Still a hefty bullet, yes. Mass and cross section do affect recoil but powder type and charge are the other factors in that equation.
Re: .44 Magnum 6 shots in a Second.
Hmm. Didn't have the sound on so didn't catch the velocity. 1500 fps is lively but manageable in .44 mag.
Still, yup, Tom, strong wrists.
