Recapping a amp

Post by jestaudio »

Hi Folks, I have working on restoring a old Roost derived amp, having got the power section working and back to spec I have moved onto the pre amp section, although it works I have DC on the master output, around 5v which suggests a leaking cap, most of the caps are around 30 years old, is it worth replacing them all and having done with it, all the can caps have been replaced already with decent modern equivlents

You can certainly replace one at a time, strategically. By DC on the "master output" do you mean on a pot?

Yep, managed to trace it down to a leaking cap, bit the bullet and changed all the coupling caps as a precaution
