Keith Urban

Post by Guitarnie »

First post
Just a Marshall/Diezel/Mesa ... Owner
Anyway I saw this post on Rebecca Dirks FBook page.
Kinda upsetting to see a PRS on top of a Overdrive, looking like just a last minute head.
I could be wrong and the photo was prior to sound check? iDK?
But just the placement was a fail.
I hope this hasn't been discussed.
Thanks.
I say failure in placement when the PRS controls are top mounted, still so wrong to me.

1) It's written in the endorsement contract
2) It's not plugged in

The markings on the green tape show level and ratio set to zero and master on 8. I guess he uses it as a loud clean amp only. Urban's tones never excite me anyway, so I could care less what he uses.

I saw he is on HSN or whatever peddling a line of guitars. Wow...how sad. I don't know what musical genre he fits into...none in my mind, but he is that genre's answer to that Zorro guy that used peddle guitars on HSN or whatever.

I'm sure John Mayer let that Dumble go to Keith Urban because it wasn't working for him.

LMAO...I can't think of anything worse than a high dollar Dumble that sounds like a Crate.

I'm in. We need to get Mayer or some other 'star' on board. They could say they bought them from some guy in Japan or Germany. By the time it all unfurls, we would be on a beach in the Carribean.

I have never really ever heard anything from Urban that "Stood" out of all the Rock/Country/Pop/ Blah genre guys.
Personally I think he would be good to go with a POD to the board.
And John Mayer; his own sig Strat and that many Dumbles?
I think of him as a talented kid that can play but, I never had the urge to listen to one of his solos or anything twice.
Maybe I am missing something? I just don't hear anything from either of these guys that makes me say "Wow".
And as far Urban goes, is the money/gear from PRS that substantial?

I like Keith because he seems like a friendly guy, might like to hang out, like. Of the current country rock players, I like Brad Paisley. Got Chops.

I highly doubt that Keith took an endorsement deal with Paul
That picture looks to be taken by someone most likely who works for Paul (notice working Pass) so they were probably checking out the amp at sound check..My guess

As for endorsements

Most of those guitar players in the big Arena circuit don't like endorsement deals!!..They would rather have the flexibility to bounce around and be able to use different gear..I've worked with just about all the big name Pop/Country acts and most if not all don't want to be tied to a brand.. They would rather just pay for the amp..Guitars are a little different..
Last I looked Keith was well into the millions so I doubt seriously he cares about getting an endorsement check from Paul..Many of these guy's just love to experiment around with different tones and have fun with it.Most know they are not known for there chops and are fine with that because of this they are not tied to a specific sound..
As far as John Mayer and other famous Dumble now users..God bless them for using these amps live or in the studio and sharing there talent through such a wonderful amp..Joe Bonnamassa the same way for bringing those 59's out on the road.. GOD BLESS HIM!!

Most endorsement deals are done through ads and things like signature models

Well I think Keith Urban is a hell of a player. Went to a concert recently. Besides being a great showman, he tore up the guitar and his tone was excellent.

No bad vibes from me on that guy!

That's kind of a sorry situation when the Dumble is the backup amp.

I like Keith Urban, I think he could excel in just about any genre but he chose country, the new country mind you.

Plus he is with Nicole. :D

Keith Urban has the chops to play any amp he wants to.
There's an album from his original band, before he moved to Nashville. He's got serious chops on it, he can probably out chicken pick Paisley. He's also a gear head and I wouldn't be surprised if he owned a Dumble....but I have no idea about what those pictures represent.
