Bob S's idea - all very good but how do the oil get to ureters/urethra for stone passage? Half a pint of olive oil sounds like a recipe for a long bout of hershey squirts.

The apple juice olive oil thing is supposedly for liver and gall stones, you don't pee oil. Malic acid should help with kidney stones as well though.

I wish I still had the old gall bladder, it's been downhill healthwise since they yanked it out.

So I'd be careful with that apple juice. On the other hand it also said that lemonade and orange juice were good for preventing the stone formation at all.

My father had kidney stones too, and this was long before lithotripsy. He used to eat a lot of rhubarb as a dessert and the oxalic acid in it turns to calcium oxalate in the body, which is highly insoluble.

I don't eat rhubarb but I got one about 25 years ago, I think from drinking too much red wine. It's the closest I've come to the pain of childbirth (or so I'm told, and I would believe it).

They shot me full of Demerol and pumped my bladder up with so much IV saline solution I thought it would burst. Finally the stone moved out and...instant relief!!

Demerol makes you forget you are alive. I love that stuff. I wish they made it in a roll-on applicator. That is what they give me when my migraines go defcom zero.
