Hi. I'm thinking of clearing some rackmount space by
removing a 1U Rocktron Super C HUSH rackmount effect.
My 6U rackmount setup only has preamps (BK Butler Tube Works Blue Tube 904,
Peavey Rockmaster, Rocktron 320 Compressor, Ibanez Delay, etc.)
. . . . and I'm going to add another effects preamp in place of the HUSH.
This rackmout setup goes out directly to an amp head.
Question: Does anybody know if either or both the BOSS NS2 Pedal
or the ISP Decimator Pedal can do the same job of the Rocktron HUSH?
Or, does the Rocktron HUSH simply out-perform the
NS2 or ISP pedals when using rackmount preamp devices?
Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

I only one of those three I have experience with is the ISP Decimator. It sucks tone like crazy, even when turned off. You really don't realize how much you are losing, until you put it in a loop and can compare the tone with the pedal off in and out of the circuit. I would suggest to do the same experiment with the Hush. You might be surprised.

Good to know. Are you discussing
the pedal or rackmount effect?
I have two BOSS NS2's and currently a Rocktron Super C HUSH
rackmount unit. Am putting together two systems (for fun and hobby)
with lots of 12AX7 and 12AT7 pedals/rackmount based units within
my chains.
I will probably get a used ISP Decimator and A/B it with
the BOSS NS2. Good to know your sucked tone and energy
from the chain. Will keep an eye on that. Thanks again.

Re: Rocktron HUSH Rackmount (vs) BOSS-NS2/ISP-Decimator Pedals
Found one amp head with noise reduction. Gotta be more out there.
"The ISP Theta Amp Head offers a unique approach to the guitar amplifier. The Theta also packs a huge punch; the internal D-CAT power amplifier delivers more than 300 watts RMS into a 4-ohm load and 150 watts into an 8-ohm load. You want gain? The Theta amplifier head has greater than 140dB of gain and you can control and make it useable because of the included dual independent full-featured Decimator Noise Reduction systems."

Engls and some Peavey's use a simple noise gate, for example. Works well, but only for heavy overdrive as it can 'choke' a clean tone.

One would believe that ISP, Peavey and Rocktron amps . . . .Gaz wrote:Engls and some Peavey's use a simple noise gate, for example. Works well, but only for heavy overdrive as it can 'choke' a clean tone.
some of them would have noise gates ~ and apparently some do.
And, the ability to turn the suppression off when playing clean.
Thanks for the heads-up

Re: Rocktron HUSH Rackmount (vs) BOSS-NS2/ISP-Decimator Pedals
Mine is the ISP G-string, the pedal version with 2 inputs and 2 outputs. You insert it at the beginning of the pedal chain, for sensing when to cut and at the noisiest point for cutting (at the effects loop if you've got one)
I had it setup with the cut in the fx-loop, and a programmable looper for channeling the signal through it only when in hi gain. Sucked tone just by having the sensing part in...

Re: Rocktron HUSH Rackmount (vs) BOSS-NS2/ISP-Decimator Pedals
I am starting to desire an ISP.
My BOSS NS2 and Rocktron Super C HUSH
are absolutey fabulous.
Tomorrow, my last rack item, the BK Butler Tube Works RT924 will
arrive and will but it all together to "hear" what noises are made.
If NS2 and HUSH do not do the job ~ ISP will get a chance.
Thanks for the input.
