Feedback on Mod 102 tube amp kit build ?

Post by tonequester »

Greetings to all.

tonequester here, and new to this forum. I would like to hear from anybody who has had any experience with building or even playing the Mod 102 tube amp kit. I've just begun to build one. I heard a twelve year old demonstrate one that he built with the aid of his science teacher, as a class project, on YouTube. I thought it sounded great, and would be a fun project. It's just a 2 tube amp, Class A, single ended cathode biased amp, advertised to output 5 Watts. I'm thinking of attenuating it, and feeding a S.S. power amp, also built from a kit, that would increase the output to 70 Watts@8ohms. Any replies are welcome, and appreciated.
I'm hoping that this forum is void of any of the childish, B.S., criticism that has wasted my time on a couple of other forums. I'm here to learn, and to help if possible. May all of your efforts bear considerable good fruit.

Have a great day. :)
P.S. Does anybody know why my paragraph indentation disappears when I submit my post ?

You could also add a line out jack off the speaker out jack and add a level pot as well.

The kit is easy enough and they provide instructions so should be a good project.

Most forum software does not allow indentation.

To make it easier to read, use your return key every two or three sentences with a space between lines.

Like this. :D

Don't let that smoke out!

Make sure you sand well inside the enclosure where the ground and terminal strips attach

They spray the inside of the enclosure, and it will interfere with connection.
