Re: I don't mix speakers
The 1% of speaker mixing experiments that I've tried that worked for me:
Scumback S75 Alnico with J75 ceramic
WGS Reaper with WGS Reaper 55hz
So many others have luck with mixing that I'm sure it's a matter of "different strokes (ears) for different folks"

First 25 years of playing, I never got along with EL84's...Now I think, WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH ME????
Re: I don't mix speakers
I used to be a purist, and granted thats probably best for any low to medium-high gain application , but these days, your lucky enough to have one cabinet with great old speakers, let alone two, so it kind of forces you to hodepodge. i have mixed G12H 30's with V30's in a Marshall 4x12 and it sounds good.
Also, I just played a fullstack last night- G12-65 top, Greenback bottom , and it was very good.
You can mix Alnico with Ceramic in a 2x12 to good effect.
For high gain stuff , The G12T-75 /V30 mix is teh shit.
Ive heard of peoploe even mixing 3 or 4 speakers, like a Neo Celestion, G12t-75, G12K-85 or 100 ( same speaker I think),V30 for a crushing metal sound.
BTW, this is prety much all Celestion/Marshall speak.

Re: I don't mix speakers
I went with a mix of a weber blue dog and silver bell based on all the rave reviews. Tried for a long time to like that pairing. All I heard was the fizz of the blue dog. The silver bell just sounded bland in comparison. The light came on for me when a couple of years later I got a 75 watt silver bell and beat the crap out of it with a 50 watt bluesmaster build.

A good mix is a Vintage 30 and a classic Lead 80.
I ran that combo for a few years.
