Found an amp yesterday

Post by randalp3000 »

So an elderly woman comes in the shop and says she has some old amps for sale......

Wasn't sure if I should share this or not because my research found that some annoying person may have been on here with one of these in the past. But damn this is a rare find and an incredible sounding amp. Amp came with the cover and original footswitch. I had to take a Fender Quad reverb and SS Leslie on the deal also. This is the best sounding slap back on the planet. Makes you want to learn Scotty Moore licks.

Found it on a farm from the original owner. Came from a husband and wife duo that used to play together back in the day. He played guitar and she played accordion. Got to hear some great stories and see some of their old CD's.

I'm glad you didn't let that stop you. Looks like a great find and is probably fun to play. I, for one, would love hear a clip. The background on that amp is interesting too. I think the holy grail guy soured what could have been an positive, productive discussion about the amp.

wondering what you think it might be worth? I had it sold before I even confirmed it was for real. I told one of my friends about it and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

It went to a good home and I can still visit it but couldn't justify keeping it. I think I got stupid money for it but how can you tell with no market history.

I'll try and get my buddy to record some sound samples when he gets back from a class he's taking.

I can confirm that it sounds exactly like this.

Is this the Ray Butts Echosonic amp, the model that Scotty Moore made famous? The slapback tone on the early Elvis records is NUTS!!!
If so, nice frickin' find Dude!!!! :D
First 25 years of playing, I never got along with EL84's...Now I think, WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH ME????
