Shutdown Deal
About this Shutdown Deal they came up with...
I just keep hearing Ray Davies of The Kinks' voice:
"We're back where we started
Here we go round again
Back where we started
Then we'll do it again, do it again, do it again!"
LOL! Love The Kinks!

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

Re: Shutdown Deal
Get ready for a big tax hike guys... somebody will have to pay
Oh wait, on second thought, that would require somebody giving a shit about balancing the budget. Fire up the printing presses boys...
Re: Shutdown Deal
Once they get the deal done they can vote themselves another pay hike.

How much pork did they slide in with that bill?
I heard something on the news this morning about this 35 page diatribe.
To the presses!

Re: Shutdown Deal
The Chief Obstructor-of-Justice is telling lies on the radio this very minute ...... pushing for "Immigration Reform" ..... a euphemism for further increasing the dependent class receiving federal benefits in exchange for their voting for democrats.
Re: Shutdown Deal
The voting mass has already already caused the ship to capsize, no need for more votes, no righting her now. The true question is "how long will we stay afloat before sinking to our grave"?NickC wrote: a euphemism for further increasing the dependent class receiving federal benefits in exchange for their voting for democrats.
God, I feel sorry for the mess my kids will have to face.
Re: Shutdown Deal
Our congress is embarrassing.
How much money did they actually save with the shutdown?
None, they just put up barricades that probably cost more than the money to staff the parks and memorials they closed.
Anybody not see a problem with this?
Closing open air war memorials to our veterans?
That all has to come from our leader.
He wanted us to bleed for a while to show who's boss.
This president doesn't know how to negotiate.
The Fed workers will get back pay for the time they didn't work.
That's a pretty sweet gig if you can get it....
I think come this next election, some heads are going to roll.

Don't worry about an imbalance - the Koch brothers are buying enough influence to keep you safe.NickC wrote:The Chief Obstructor-of-Justice is telling lies on the radio this very minute ...... pushing for "Immigration Reform" ..... a euphemism for further increasing the dependent class receiving federal benefits in exchange for their voting for democrats.
I'm not as worried about government in my life as I am with the Koch brothers in my government. Why are they trying to influence the governorship of a state they don't live in?
Re: Shutdown Deal
I agree. Why don't they legislate the changes they want to make rather than hold the country hostage? The Affordable Care Act, as designed by Mitt Romney, was passed several years ago. What is the Tea Party going to repeal next? Civil rights? Are they rethinking giving women the right to vote? This could get interesting.Structo wrote:Our congress is embarrassing.
Even McCain was saying this morning that this episode was a debacle. The U.S. has lost considerable esteem in the eyes of the world.
Re: Shutdown Deal
The Koch bros are irrelevant, this little display of Obama and Harry Reid getting everything they wanted proves it. The Koch bros are playing with a castrated party - someone needs to grow a set of stones. This whole exercise was nothing but media fodder against the Republicans. Hello Greece here we come... Oh yeah Greece, like George Soros never invested anything either. It goes both ways Zippy, except money out of my pocket is ONE way and is going to get a lot worse...Zippy wrote: Don't worry about an imbalance - the Koch brothers are buying enough influence to keep you safe.
Re: Shutdown Deal
The grass-roots level of the so-called Tea Party (not the Republican infiltrators that have tried to co-opt the movement) are Constitutionalists that are the same type of folks that fought for civil rights and women's rights. They aren't the ones any of us should worry about, in spite of efforts to demonize them by the mainstream media and liberal progressives (anti-constitutionalists).Zippy wrote: ........... Re: Shutdown Deal
Guys, I fear the crux is being missed. It's not Obama, it's not Boehner, it's not the GOP, it's not the Dems. It's all of them. They are a unit. They want the people divided andfocusing on parties, and individuals, while they form a consolidated alliance to screw the people of this country. As long as we are divided, they are winning.
Winning!

Re: Shutdown Deal
I travel the world and have experienced the 'esteem'..it was lost a LONG time ago...a LONG time ago. In the eyes of the world, this debacle is just a confirmation of something that didn't really need to be confirmed....The U.S. has lost considerable esteem in the eyes of the world.
