selmer tone controls

I'm thinking of using an old Selmer tone stack, just to be a little different.
I ts treble bass vol, but a little different circuit shape from the common fender.
Any body have a chance play on one? how'd it feel for tone control?

Yes. Well, the amps are sort of dull.. it's hard to say much about the TS alone.

The amps sound good. :)
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

I don't know... See what you think about this comparison. The plot shows all combinations of 0, 5, and 10 on both pots, with both stacks driven by 39k Zo.

It may not look like it at first glance, but that Selmer stack is the Deluxe Reverb stack with the 47n input cap added, the bass cap shorted, and the treble pot reduced to 100k.

Appreciate it, I haven't tried the variation yet... mid scope looks a little different, it'll be fun to try out no matter what. The practicalities are waiting of course.

I've learned that if you can hear that its bright, its too bright, don't mind a toned down sound. With minor exceptions selmer scheme look very similar to fender... some real famous brit invasion recorded on those.

I like this, and will remember it when I'm worried about it being, well, too bright. Thing is, too bright with a Tele is just right with an LP...

Anyway, would that tonestack put DC on the pots?

EDIT: Nevermind, missed the input cap.

Is it appropriate to equate the tonal character of an amp with its tone stack; there are other places where the eq gets shaped, perhaps significantly so?

The 1st stage is under way different operating conditions than Fender, which may impact on the output impedance and thereby affect the eq frequencies and adjustment ranges.

Then, depending on the particular model, there's a 500pF coupling cap to the input of the power amp and the power amp has a 'presence boost on full' global negative feedback arrangement. A lower negative feedback ratio but higher gain tubes

fun stuff... that 500p would keep it from farting out, seen that in some fenders too.
The RCA tables tell me it should have a bit more more gain.
Its pretty much the same data for frequency range out of the stage.
I guessing, but I bet the insertion loss looks like it should be about same.
have wait and hear how practical it is.
