Which clone to build..

Post by yurka »

Venturing out into British territory for the first time. Iv been looking at the variations of the DC30, AC30. I personally prefer the DC30 tone. Should I build a straight up DC30 clone, or are there any interesting variations out there?

I am also thinking about building an AC30, the schematic didn't look too difficult.

Ceriatone has an interesting "dizzy 30" layout..anyone ever build one? How does the rocket compare to the DC30?

I built the Ceriatone Dizzy 30 and it is a good amp with lots of features but I like the simplicity of a Trainwreck Rocket such wonderful chime.

If you go to search enter DC30 in technical section there is a bunch of threads on DC30/Dizzy 30 builds to read. :)

I built the DC30 also.... I like it but I find it finicky... I am always trying to get something more from it that I believe it's not willing to give... just can't get it right for my ears... My first build was a Fender 5e7 circuit.. but in head form played through a 2/12 cab... I have built 5 of them now and it's my favorite to play through...

Everyone speaks well of the 5E3 tweed Deluxe. It's a good rehearsal size if you value you eardrums.
