Tubedepot Tweed Champ kit
DISCLAIMER - THIS IS MY FIRST AMP.
I just put together a Tubedepot Tweed Champ kit together. On C4 I am supposed to have 22 volts +- 3 volts. I get 55 volts. The amp turns on and works but not very well. At volume 10 of 12 it has a faint pop and the Power tube (6V6) has a slight arcing inside when this noise occurs and the sound drops off significantly at anything higher. All other tests passed.
Any ideas?

We'll need pics of what you built, not the manual. Simple circuit, good choice to start, but you wired something wrong.

OK, here are some of the pictures I have.

Let me know if you need a better picture of any particular area. These were taken with my phone camera. I can get my real camera out and take more detailed pictures, if needed.
Thanks!

Re: Tubedepot Tweed Champ kit
Most of these pics are of little value. Get a few high-resolution shots of the wiring, especially around the tube sockets, and in its present state.
Re: Tubedepot Tweed Champ kit
You have over twice the current through the tube as there is suppose to be. Take a look at the wiring around pin 5 and see if you could have DC on pin 5. Tube debot's recommendation and reference to the dim light bulb limiter should be considered. Hope you have a spare 6V6. It has probably failed.

OK, thanks for the input.
Pictures
I will take some new hi-res pictures and post tomorrow. I am doing this with my 17 year old as a father-son project and he got discouraged when it did not work right. I see it as the rest of the fun of figuring out what needs to be done to get it to work right. I really appreciate the feedback and inputs.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Good project for father and son.
Double check all component values and placement.
Double check all wiring.
You could just have a defective power tube but you need to check everything first to make sure no mistakes were made.

Vectorer is a buddy of mine. I told him you guys would take good care of him. I will try to clue him in on gut shots and so on.
I am wondering if he has the wrong resistor value beside the cap on the 6V6 cathode. If that's the case, he must have the wrong resistor somewhere else, too!

Relax. It's SUPPOSED to smoke a little.
Re: Tubedepot Tweed Champ kit
You really need to do as Structo said go over each connection and make sure you have wired the circuit correctly. I've built over 50 amps and making a wiring error or incorrect resistor selection is easy to do.
Great project stick with it.
