The first connections of the long leads clearly goes through the holes in the lugs, and so does one end of the short parallell links. Although he would be better off wrapping a piece of wire around the lug where there was no room, he is esentially OK for such a short piece of wire.....
Not exactly MIL spec or space grade , but probably OK.....
Hollow tube type lugs don't give any anchoring than the solder, either, and there's plenty of those in MIL eqpt.
You'd be amazed of what one finds inside high grade and extremely expensive pieces of equipment......

I usually put at least a snug 45 degree bend in any wire terminating in a lug, and more often wrap wire around terminal/turret/lug at least half way.

A buddy of mine recently retired from a major defense contractor. He wired the large racks for radar systems. His work was constantly inspected to maintain discipline to due diligence and care.

This is where you strip one wire way longer. Attach the second wire to first wire wrapping it around and solder. Using the longer wire as the one that passes through the hole on the jack.

Or one through hole and other wrapped around spade.

The way this guy did it will work we know that but not good practice. :)

I usually don't see any point in nitpickin', but that's basically what I said... :)

OTOH - those 2" or so of wire, have so little mass, that he'll be OK, even if we both probably would do it differently........

I use 18 ga for the jumper then it fits in the hole.I don't see why that 2 inches of wire needs to be 16 ga.
Of course I'm not known for doing real smart things.
But I wouldn't do it like the guy in that video

If speaker cabs with parallel jacks went to the ISS, they might be wired like this:
