Shoot me...

Re: Shoot me...
I once did a power cord blind test with a bunch of friends. Some where $300 power cords......I went to the 99 cent store and got one there. The guys that where more clean amp players liked the hi-end ones......The rock and more hi-gain guys picked the 99 cent one as sounding the best.
Re: Shoot me...
This implies that channel switching amps should have two separate AC power feeds for best results. But how long before the 99 cent power cords are gone, and then marketed as $300 Monster-Dirt™ cords?Cameron wrote:I once did a power cord blind test with a bunch of friends. You can advertise the unique feature: the louder you play, the more it glows.

Re: Shoot me...
A 14AWG and a 12AWG cable. Does that mean I have to match it to a 20 amp or 15 amp circuit? That 14AWG cable is like a tourniquet on a 20 amp circuit.
I can't believe people buy into this BS. My bass player has a $125 power cable. I can't hear an effing difference, but he can. Every time he asks me how it sounds, I tell him it's too loud.

Re: Shoot me...
That idea right there will make you a fortune if you can figure out how to do it for under 25 cents plus the cost of a normal cable. "Glow" always sells. Plus the photons even out the power distribution and give the amp more "clarity" and sensitivity!Leo_Gnardo wrote: You can advertise the unique feature: the louder you play, the more it glows.

Typical bass player
Yeah, it cracks me up that some people (audiophools) will install gold plated recepticles feeding a $1,000 power cord to their tube power amp running Chinese tubes.
But what about that crappy 50ft of 14ga Romex in the wall that may be aluminum, then goes to the breaker box, and out to the meter.
So that last six feet is worth $1000+ dollars?
More money than sense.

Re: Shoot me...
I hope none of you are living in a house with 14Ga aluminum wiring
Re: Shoot me...
Yet many older trailer houses have aluminum wiring.
My home was built in 1975 and has mostly copper but the cable from the meter to the box is aluminum.......

There is a lot of houses like that the aliminium has to be a larger gauge than copper to carry the same current.Structo wrote:Yet many older trailer houses have aluminum wiring.
