A friend of mine has an Ibanez SW15 combo. From what he was describing, it sounded like he had a problem with the input. He would have to jiggle the chord around in the amp input to get any sound. The bass and cable worked fine with other amps.
Took it apart and the rear right solder joint on the plastic jack was cold. Tried to reflow it, but ended up lifting the pad. The pad was too messed up, so I just took some component lead and made a make shift pad, scraped off some of the trace and tinned it, and then connected the two. Finally, I cleaned around the new connection with some alcohol.
The problem I have now is I get an AWFUL buzz with the bass plugged in. It's silent with no chord plugged in, a little more noise with a cable, and unusable with the bass plugged in. Is this the fault of my "handiwork" or is there possibly more at play here? Thanks in advance guys!

Seems a bit odd (to me) that its louder with the bass than just a chord. How about with the bass plugged in but turned down? Did you try the bass again with a different amp?

Tried the bass through my guitar amp to check. Still some buzz, but not so intolerable. Tone controls on the bass can only cut some of the highs out, but it's still REALLY present. The bass amp doesn't buzz with the volume all the way down, but gets loud quickly. Also, the buzz stops getting louder at about 10:00 on the volume.

Also, tried a different guitar through the noisy bass amp. Same problem. It's the amp for sure.
