Gibson firebird
Bought this in 1979,Its a "69"Stupid me I took the tremolo and abr1 off.Lost the bridge but I Still have the tremolo bar.Scratches put on by mean girlfriend because i went out one nite with the boys.Plays great.I want to bring it back to Glorey. These were great playing geetars.Every note on the fretboard is playable,no buzzing.I need to adjust the pickup height correctly and put the trem bar. This guitar is loud even unplugged.I always had a love for sunburst tobacco.Jack needs some cleanin. Can I shield the guitar like we do the strats?I wont do it if it would mess with the tone? Thanks Mikey

Re: Gibson firebird
At least she didn't do like one of my old friend's gf did: soaked his Les Paul in the bathtub and took the hammer to it. A couple hundred times. Crazy Belgian chick. (I think there may have been marching powder involved.) He took one look at it, and thought "that could have been me." Needless to say that gf is long gone in the rearview mirror. Old friend long since rehabbed, on the straight n narrow, and a very responsible & loving parent. The Les Paul, as you might suspect, was a total loss.ampmike wrote:Scratches put on by mean girlfriend
If jack's that far gone a new switchcraft #11 will last you another 30-40 years at least and was probably the original part anyway. Or should have been. Yes it can be shielded. The only 'messing with the tone' is you'll have less hum/buzz.Jack needs some cleanin. Can I shield the guitar like we do the strats?I wont do it if it would mess with the tone?
Nice axe. "Loud even unplugged" is a GOOD thing! I like 'backy bursts too.

Les Paul
Thanks Guys,When I was 18 Les Pauls were the guitar,The Black Beauty was my dream.I went to college for a bout 3 months for music but it was not my thing learning opera and classical guitar. So I found out I could borrow 1500.00 without mom knowing about it.I cashed that check and went right dow to Star music in Morristown NJ.I bought the Les paul for 700.00 new and the bird for 600.00.It was the happiest day of my life.Still have them both and will pass them on to my kids.Miles told me a bunch of history on the Les Paul.It was a K.M. series from Gibson. Its still all stock. The neck is a skinny, great action a a awesome rock guitar,Thanks Mikey

Nice axes Mikey. I grew up not far from Morristown. Used to fly at the airport sometimes, back when it was a dinky place.
Do I see a Taylor headstock poking into the photo? You know how to pick'em!
