USA, New York. Upstate. First thing the NY legislature did this year was pass a 7 round law. Bo o o o o gus! In response to the Newtown slaughter. NY pols wanted to "lead the country" in firearm control. Well here it is nearly 8 months later and no other state has headed in that direction. All it was, was a way to get politicians into the news. Some heroes they are: nobody followed their parade.

I was considering a nice old Browning Hi Power (13 @ 9mm or 10 @ .40) for home defense (Crack Canyon is 30 yards down the hill) but pistol permits now take over a year and you need references - everybody from your kindergarten teacher to Santa Claus and that's still no guarantee. Oh and an absolutely clear record. Not only do you need a pistol permit in NY, you have to register every "short" weapon and carry a permit for that too. You've heard that old saw about when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns? Well they're doing it inch by inch here. Even with a "long weapon" 7 rounds in the mag, max. Of course there's no 7 rounds mags made so that goes to show you what geniuses our legislature are. Meanwhile the gangstas (Latin Kings, @ 120 yds away) have AK-47 with all the trimmings. How do we know? They sent a photo to the cops, with a note "This is for you." Nice. And that's just one instance.

There are exceptions for the 7 round rule if you're shooting competition at a range. Then you can have 10. Wow.

Also a new NY bypass law that allows "retired police" to have as many round mags as they want. What good this will do anybody ??????? More "special rules for special people" are on the way I'm sure. That's what they're good at.

Hmmmm; accuracy is relative, but you will very hard pressed to spend only $250 to get a .22LR to shoot 2 MOA at 250 yards, physics doesn't lie the external ballistics will get you, it will drop like a rock drop and the wind will move the bullet around.
Are you sure it's 2.5 football fields? The only reason i'm asking is that folks commonly over estimate distance.

I went through a period in the late 90's shooting smallbore silhoutte and built several really heavily tricked out Ruger 10/22's.

PM me on what you really trying do and I'll offer some suggestions, a 22 magnum or 17 HMR might be better options. Although, I might just tell you spend a little more cash and get a Savage bolt action in .223

FWIW, my longest groundhog kill is 920 yds across a shallow valley with a custom 6.5-284 with 12x42 power optics.

I have considered that too. Good reliable ol' fashion Browning design. Some good variations. Good builds by Colt & FN & some others. Strong resemblance to the Hi Power that came along a little later.

Also liking the Thunder 5 - check it out. Big ass revolver, .45-70 or .41 that will fit 410 shotgun shells. Diabolical.

I'm not trying to do anything with it I was just real surprised with how well things went at that disatance .

I'm not a competition shooter or even a real good shot or a big time hunter.I'm not a gun freak but grew up shootin squierll's and rabbits and deer to eat.I mean we had food we just like to eat wild game and there was so many of them they became pests.

25 rounds First day I shot this gun

The larger hole nearest my thumb. Is from my 5 quick draw attempts from 15yds.I thought I could do better. I did better than this guy though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3kJ6SU3ycs
