RIP JJ Cale

Post by David Root »

Just saw that he passed on yesterday, at 74, of a heart attack, at Scripps Memorial in La Jolla. Too bad. Another real musician gone.

Sad indeed, but his music lives on, in his own work and in the influence he had on other great artists.

Magnolia

Whipporwill singing
A soft summer breeze
Makes me think of my baby
I left down in New Orleans
I left down in New Orleans

Now you're here sleeping
You're driving me mad
Got to get back to you
You're the best I ever had
You're the best I ever had

You're whispering "good morning"
Gently in my ear
I'm comin' home to you, babe
I'll soon be there

Whipporwill singing
A soft summer breeze
Makes me think of my baby
I left down in New Orleans
I left down in New Orleans
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!
