Here's my deer fence. As you can see, so far it's working. This year, I added the bottom plate and a few posts on the south and west sides, which stabilized it very well.

Nice, Phil. Good idea. Keeps those night time garden raiders OUT.
I may do something like that.
I'm going to try a product called Liquid Fence. It works on our impatient plants in the back yard. If I don't use it back there the deer will eat them down to the soil.
The deer have never got as far as the side of the house where the tomato plants are, until this year. I'll see if it works on them.

Of course you don't eat the brains: that's what the Zombie Squirrels are for!

Update: if these squrrels think I am going to be a pushover next spring they have another thing coming. Even though the process is demanding and intrusive I am considering wasting the money on a supressor or using super strong fly paper and taking down the whole eco system.

When you get that suppressor, I need to borrow it for a day. I've got a 'squirrel' problem too.

haha yeh it would. The only kind of animals we have trouble with here are pigeons. They shit on everything and lay their eggs on the tile roof and they roll down and go splat on the patio. Dumb creatures but probably smarter than a caribou.

Yeah, a good air rifle with quality pellets will improve varmint population parameters without attracting neighborly protest. Squirrel = bushy-tailed rat.

Reminds me of an crusty rancher I met one weekend in the CO mountains. We were talking in his living room, which was ringed with deer racks. He pointed at a few. "That one used to be Boone and Crocket #2, that one #3." I asked where he bagged them, and he pointed out the window to his yard. He took them with bow and arrow over the years. Note to deer- this is not the meadow you want to browse in.

I had not heard of liquid fence before, I noticed that there's a reptile version, I wonder if this would have kept the salt water crocodile out of my mate's swimming pool?

The Redtail Hawks keep squirrels around here in check. If they get their little asses too high in the Oaks, then WACK, SMACK, they're gone.
