Ebay has virtually killed all the good garage sale scores. People simply look up the value, sell whatevers worth anything on ebay, and dump the rest at garage sales. Theres going to be exceptions to the rule of course, but by and large, thats the way it goes now.

Wow, that is a really old radio!

I still remember the huge console radio my grand parents had.

The whole family used to sit around it for the evening listening to programs.

I wish I could stumble into a deal like that.

I went back this morning for the half price Sunday and was told it went for $80 and was the first thing out the door. I'm convinced it worked as this guy was an EE. today I found a 12.6V and what appears to be 10V filament trannies, and a kitchen am/fm radio all for $5.

Just today found my daughter a tiny ['40s/'50s?] AM radio [$10 yard sale]. She's been wanting to explore the dial for years but seems a little disappointed w/ all the weird stuff on the air so far. Preachin', Hindu tunes, Tagalog, talk, talk, etc. Oh well, it's Sunday after all. Maybe there'll be more music tomorrow.

Nice!

I'm a sucker for just about anything in a nice wood cabinet. :D

Nice.
I had an old Crosley radio years ago that had about five bands on it including Police.

Sad, I don't even remember what happened to it.

As I shut down the house last night I heard her in there w/ her 'new' radio, searching out stations, just like when I was a kid! *sniffle*
She's hooked. Next thing, maybe she'll learn how to fix stuff.
