Mouser order numbers for common parts Wire types?

Post by chopstuck »

I have been using PTFE covered wire for 10 years and would like to try some plastec coated choices for a different look.
What would you guys reccommend ? I have been getting wire from Apexjr and have been very happy so far.

I sometimes like to order from Mouser or Digikey for lager stock orders ( greater than 100 pieces).
Problem is, the choices they offer can make a 10 minute order take all morning.
Does anyone have a template for our favorite caps, resistors, switches wire, supplies etc ?
Some way to get to the proper page for carbon comps metal films, RN65s
polyprop caps and such.
I come home from work without the energy to go cataloge exploring at the end of the day.
I would like to build a shopping cart wirh frequently ordered parts to refer to.
I would then paste the list here for more to use.

Little help ?

Although Mouser's catalog has "everything in profusion" I avoid shopping there for wire - it's expensive! Had much better luck $ wise ordering from ce/Antique 600V PVC in kandy kolors. About wire, my 2" worth...

Hoffman's shop is a great place to get pvc coated wire. Shipping sucks, but not if you order a bunch of stuff and make it worth your while. I get my stranded pvc from CE and the solid stuff from Hoffman.

Thanks for the wire sources, how about some of the other items resistors, caps, switches, etc.

I have been going to different sites to get them and shipping does pile up.

I'm looking for page numbers in some of the on line catalogs

Nobody has everything. And even if you have what you think is a good source it's good to have some "second sources" just in case...

Magic/Ruby gets the lion's share of my parts budget - mostly tubes & some transformers etc. CE/Antique have a wide selection of amp & guitar parts & Jensen/Mod speakers. Mojo do too, but their speaker collection concentrates on Eminence, and Mojo also has a selection of parts for pickup building. Hoffman has a wide selection of useful stuff too & Weber deserves a mention, not just their speakers by far. You'll almost have to visit Fliptops if you need Ampeg-specific parts. Parts Express come in handy especially for Eminence pro speakers and passive crossover components.

Mouser has an awful lot of useful stuff, even better if you quantity buy 50 of these caps, 200 of those resistors. Mouser not so cheap for cable products. Similar to Mouser: DigiKey, Allied, Newark.

I had been using just radios for some stuff, caps and resistors . They are reasonable and shipping is OK too but you have to spring for airmail or it takes a while.

Me too. I ordered my first batch of resistors and caps from Dave. Good prices. 10% off $100 or more. That covers the extra $5 for airmail :o

I like the idea of this thread and a mouser common parts list as I too spend hours ordering. Here's a contribution: the Alpha pots I use : http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Alp ... liEYGUXjBB
Take away the last 4 product characters and search and there's all the other values. $1.65

There are Mouser part numbers in a few of the BOMs for both TW and Dumble builds. I would start there and then use your mouser order history for the stuff you find that you like. It's real easy to reorder Items.

I use the search feature at mouser. There is always a big stress when checking out thinking I forgot something. Usually do.
