Update: Installed all the sockets and rectifier bridge. Couldnt mount it on the side as per MetroAmp instructions: Chassis fits super tight against the sides of the cabinet. Oh well. I think it will be ok where it's at. Dressing those leads on the heaters was a lot harder than i thought it would be! I used 18ga wire, it was a beast but I hand twisted em

Any thoughts on things I should have done? Or done better? This is my first amp build, and i see it as a learning tool but I feel like I really have gotten the bug. I'm already thinking about other builds! Down the rabbit hole I go...

You might get lucky but tight against the edge and on the chassis is the way to go. If you fire it up to humming you are going to hate it. I tend to cross the tube from over the hot with the ground straight to the pin instead of looping away on a fresh build.

What are we ta do? I am wishing you luck but betting we are going to have some trouble.

Is my dress really that bad?

I thought about this too. My first mistake was drilling the holes for the preamp tubes too close to the edge. Well, I made the bed, might as well sleep in it for now.

Look at Marshalls (old) or any of the TW amps around here.

You can get away with all kinds of stuff. Very forgiving circuit in it's stock form. If it works out ok this time it's a gift and we just won't do it that way again.

Nice! That does serve as a great reference for me. Thanks cbass. i think I will break down and redo the dress, as I can already feel it bugging me.

Also I think I am just going to route the OT way on the other side of the chassis from the PT, might as well take no chances because I have all this real estate to play with.

What are y'alls thoughts on VVRs? Pros? Cons? Will it substantially affect tone?

I found a picture someone sent me of their BB combo with the 90° out PT. all he did was punch a couple holes and turn his replacement OT 90°, btw.

If you flip the switch and it goes mmmmmmmmm and it's still in standby, that is the reason.

I really can't see how the PT is going to cause problems with the OT placement.

Heaters are re-done. I feel a little better about them now On to ordering more parts!
